A Good Start
I noticed the truck was looking pretty bad and was getting lots of rusty spots. Since I will need to keep using it for a time I thought it best to try a paint job.
So I removed the bed liner and started to prep it for painting. The plastic bed liner was held in place by two screwed in pieces of plastic on each side. It at first looked pretty good in the bed until I removed all the dirt and debris from the edges and corners. Then I noticed the liner had hid some rusted spots and maybe even some holes. I’ll need to sand off the rust to see what kind of repair I may need to do to the bed.
I’m planning to do the following. Wash the truck. Remove the bed liner. Clean it throughly. Sand down any rusted spots on the truck body. Prime the truck body and any areas that would show when the doors are open. Paint the truck body with Ford Blue tractor paint. Paint any black rubber areas with black paint. Maybe spray paint the grille black. Haven’t decided about that yet. And lastly sand the bed and paint it. I might use the pond liner paint I have if I have enough of it.
